Hi Hayley,

You do not need to use a solicitor to change the details at the Land Registry. If you have the Change of Name Deed, or a copy of it certified by a solicitor, then you can send that to the Land Registry (I recommend recorded delivery) with an AP1 application form. You can find full details of what to do in Public Guide 22 on the Land Registry website. Visit www.landregistry.gov.uk and click on Forms & Publications tab, then select "Public Guides".

To check which Land Registry Office you need to write to, visit www.landregistry.gov.uk and click on the "Customer Service" tab. From there, click on "Office Finder" and that should provide you with the details of your local office if you put the relevant county in.

Hope this helps!

I am considering changing my name by deed poll back to my maiden name. How do I go about changing my name on the title deeds of my property once I have done this? Do I need to use a solicitor?
